Wellbeing after winter: Eden launches at Canberra Centre

Posted on
Winter can be a brutal time for your health and wellbeing: the dark mornings and frosty climate can wreak havoc on everything from your fitness routine to your skin and hair.
There’s no better time than spring to shake off the winter frost and re-evaluate what makes you feel healthy and happy, and starting this month, Canberra Centre will host a series of masterclasses focusing on just that.
Now in its third year, Eden is a health and wellness experience held in September and October which puts the spotlight on fitness, lifestyle, beauty and wellbeing. Among the names hosting masterclasses this year are The Biggest Loser: Transformed trainer Libby Babet, fibre artist Jacqui Fink and celebrity chef Scott Gooding.

Canberra Centre Senior Marketing Manager Kelly McGufficke says it’s the perfect opportunity for Canberrans to unwind after a bitter winter.
“Eden aims to reconnect shoppers with their mind and body through self-love, mindfulness and self-empowerment,” Kelly says.
“Due to Eden’s success over the past two years, we want to continue bringing valuable masterclasses and inspiring influencers to the centre. This year we have a really vast range of offerings, from fitness and health to knitting and candle making.”
The masterclass series will kick off this Saturday with Libby Babet, the new trainer for Channel Ten’s The Biggest Loser: Transformed, who will talk all things health and fitness, followed by an energetic aerobic workout led by The BUF Girls. All guests will take home a copy of Libby’s book, Totally BUF.

Jacqui Fink will be leading an Extreme Knitting masterclass. Image: supplied.
With a focus on mindfulness, artist Jacqui Fink will host an Extreme Knitting workshop on 15 September. Using large scale design and soft merino wool, Jacqui will highlight a more creative way to meditate.
“Her technique is replicated across the world by other makers, but nothing beats learning from the source,” says Kelly.
On 29 September, author, personal trainer and My Kitchen Rules contestant Scott Gooding will host a nutrition and lifestyle session, guiding guests through the Keto diet with a cooking demonstration. All guests will take home a copy of his book The Keto Diet.
Cocolux’s creator Meisha Strykowski will host a Candle Making workshop on 13 October, exploring her aesthetic behind candle making, natural ingredients and handmade quality.
To finish off the series, runway makeup artist Nicole Thompson will host a beauty workshop showcasing her vibrant and exotic take on make-up artistry on 27 October.
