Attention art lovers: Craft ACT needs your help

Posted on

A little goes a VERY long way in the community arts sector and Craft ACT needs your help to continue to empower a creative Canberra.

A beloved staple of the local art community for over 51 years, Craft ACT has always championed the need for a secure future for the creative and essential craftspeople, designers, and audiences that call Canberra home.

Promoting and celebrating excellence and innovation in contemporary craft, they’ve not only brought the community beautiful artwork, programs, workshops, and exhibitions but they’re also one of Australia’s longest continuous-running membership organisations in the visual arts.

But after a trying few years (you know what we mean), Craft ACT is reaching out to its committed member and supporter base to raise $20,000 to directly support its member artists, programs and exhibitions—contributing to positive outcomes in the wider community.

And in a time when it feels like we have so much stacked against us, we shouldn’t underestimate the value of imagination, design thinking, and the importance of supporting the creative community.

Want to help craft and design continue to transform our world? With three donation options to choose from, there are plenty of ways to shape a handmade and creative future without breaking the bank.

Craft Family (donate $1-499): Do not underestimate the power of a small donation, a little goes a VERY long way in the community arts sector.

Future Craft ($500-2,000 donations): Your investment contributes additional funds to support the next generation of contemporary craftspeople and designers through professional development and collaborations.

Major professional development programs ($5000 donation): This is a special opportunity to support a targeted professional development program and an annual exhibition that will encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration in which selected craft practitioners will collaborate with other design disciplines. A curated exhibition will be the culmination of a year-long program of professional and artistic development opportunities and exchanges to forge new directions in the creative industries. The projects which result from this funding will grow the design craft sector and ensure the practice of craftspeople and designers exist into the future.
