Ooh la la! A French-inspired Christmas Market is coming to town this winter
Posted on
Well mull my wine and call me Santa—Canberra is getting a Christmas in July festival.
That’s right—dig out your cutest mittens and berets, mon cherie, because from 30 June to 3 July, Parkes Lawn West (opposite Questacon) will come to life as a European-style Christmas Market, complete with festive food and wine for The Xmas in July festival.
From mulled wine and falling snow to melted cheese (raclette!) stations, real Christmas trees, wooden huts, hot chocolate, Christmas lights and live music, it’s all about celebrating the magic of Christmas…in July.
Across four days, sing along to Christmas carols, warm your hands over a fire and take a stroll through the Mulled Wine Gardens as you make memories and snap one heck of a selfie for the ‘gram.
Want to take your experience to the next level? How about renting a private igloo for your group or that special someone where you can feast on melted raclette cheese drizzled over hot potatoes and be warmed by a personal fire pit? Yes, there will be marshmallows to toast.
Local distilleries will be offering a selection of things to warm you from the inside, while food stalls will serve crêpes, German hot dogs, Italian pasta in a cheese wheel, Belgian waffles, torched-flamed crème brûlée and more. Le Noms.
Meet you under the mistletoe?
