Come over the border from Canberra
Make the most of the autumnal weather and throw a fun little interstate trip into the mix before winter hits. Jump across the border and explore some of nearby NSW’s enticing sights, with these top attractions conveniently found within 2.5 hours drive from Canberra.
These gems are best seen before the snow falls, so don’t wait!
Coree campground, Brindabella National Park

Just one hour’s drive from Canberra, pretty Coree campground is surrounded by alpine bushland in Brindabella National Park.
Its remote setting means you’ll be able to switch off entirely and take in serene natural surroundings while enjoying the fresh mountain air. Keep an eye out for local wallabies and explore the national park’s beautiful walks and scenic views.
Thredbo-Perisher, Kosciuszko National Park

The mighty Kosciuszko National Park is home to many incredible natural wonders, and some of the best are off the beaten track.
Only 2.5 hours’ drive from Canberra, a visit to the popular Thredbo-Perisher area doesn’t have to be shared with the crowds when you explore Rainbow Lake walking track (feature image), a short and easy walk at only 2.5km return. See beautiful alpine wildflowers, dazzling Rainbow Lake and stunning views of the Australian Alps.
Alternatively, try Waterfall walking track for a scenic 6km loop taking in impressive granite boulders and beautiful waterfall views.
Tumut, Kosciuzko National Park

Swing by Tumut, just over two hours drive from Canberra in the northern part of the park, to discover sparkling waters, hidden walks and tumbling waterfalls.
Camp at Log Bridge Creek campground for an ideal and picturesque base for your adventures. Set beside beautiful Blowering Dam, you can enjoy paddling and fishing here before tackling one of the nearby walks.
Explore Blowering Cliffs walking track for a challenging 5km return hike up to impressive Blowering Falls, with must-see views of the cliffs and waterfall making the perfect reward for your effort.

Or try the 10.6km return Landers Falls lookout walk for sensational views of Landers Creek Falls as it emerges from the cliff opposite the lookout and dramatically cascades into a rocky ravine below.
