The Women’s Ashes kicks off in Canberra today

Posted on

From today, The Australia Women’s Team will be bringing their A-Game to Manuka Oval, eager to be crowned the winners of this year’s 2022 Women’s Ashes Series.

Household names such as Meg Lanning and Alyssa Healy, along with the young guns Tahlia McGrath, Darcie Brown and Annabel Sutherland will be sure to put on a striking series full of memorable cricket moments that the audience will never forget.

From today at 10 am to this Sunday 30 January, the Aussie women’s team will battle it out against England’s finest to be crowned winner.

Alongside four thrilling days of cricket, attendees can expect a variety of all-ages entertainment and activities, including three Chill Out Zones kitted out with picnic rugs, bean bags and umbrellas.

Wooden lawn games (giant connect four, giant Jenga) will be set up in these zones to keep little ones occupied, as well as a Cricket Simulator where sports enthusiasts can be their own Ashes Hero. The simulator is calibrated to bowl fans six of the most famous ashes deliveries in history for them to face and play against—are you up for the challenge?

You’ll also be able to step back in time in the Women’s Ashes Vault, where you can trip down memory lane to re-live the most striking Women’s Cricket moments in history, covering all the way back to 1934. It projects the first-ever Women’s Test Cricket series, Betty Wilson as a key role model and pioneer for women’s cricket, and most recently, when Meg Lanning blasted a 133* run knock off 63 balls.

Naturally, a long, leisurely day of sport needs some fuel and there will be plenty of options for food and beverages including fish and chips and pub feeds to get into the British-Aussie spirit as well as pizza, OMG Donuts, Slinky Spuds and Lolly & Sox. There will even be coffee and gluten-free and vegan options. Winning.
