The Bachelor’s Dr Matt is coming to Canberra next week

Dr Matt Agnew, astrophysicist and the current Bachelor Australia, is set to take the stage at an adults-only science night next Monday 2 September.
Bachie fans, assemble! Your newest crush, Dr Matt ‘The Bachelor’ Agnew is coming to Canberra for one night, and it’s strictly ‘adults only’.
Taking place at Questacon next Monday 2 September and presented by the Australian Academy of Science, Adults-Only Science will explore a variety of intriguing scientific topics, including how Osher’s hair stays so lush and why there isn’t more footage of the Bachelor mansion alpacas…or like…chemistry and physics.
With a huge evening of interactive displays, pop-up demonstrations and live music, there’ll be something for everyone, especially as your guides will be 50 of Australia’s emerging leaders across chemistry, physics and medicine, hot off the back of their mentorships with Nobel-prize winners in Germany.
If you ever wished the Bach did a little less handing out roses and a little more lecturing about stars, you’re in luck as Dr Matt will be presenting a talk on the night titled ‘The reality of astrophysics’.
The talk will be presented as a series of in-conversation events with Professor Brian Schmidt, Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist and Vice-Chancellor of ANU, in the Japan Theatre at Questacon at 6.45 pm, 7.30 pm and 8.15 pm.
It’s important to note that there are strictly limited seats available for each show and attendees will need to hold an additional (free) ticket to enter the Japan Theatre for these shows, which will be available for FREE only from 6 pm outside the Japan Theatre, not prior to the event.
Bachie will also be in good company, with fellow reality stars Sam Hinton (Survivor) and Lucy Sugerman (The Voice) also presenting talks on the night.
Between talks, guests will be free to roam Questacon’s many galleries, with over 200 hands-on exhibitions to browse. There will even be food, wine and beer available to purchase across the evening, so you can do your best recreation of a Bachelor mansion cocktail party. With science.
While we’ve had some gripes about this season’s The Bachelor Australia (i.e that ranking personality trait nonsense), it doesn’t change the fact that Dr Matt is indeed an accomplished astrophysicist and I would happily listen to his lovable voice explain the stars to me any night of the week.
And if all else fails, we still have the mansion alpacas.
