Super Bao to open at Verity Lane Market this week

Street food favourite Super Bao is opening their second Canberra location at Verity Lane Market this Friday 5 February.
Having become a street food festival favourite over the last few years, Super Bao opened their Dickson restaurant in 2019 and is now expanding to the city.
Why? Well, one look at these photos should give you the answer.
Founded by Angel Zhang and Paul Xu, Super Bao aims to bring authentic Asian flavours sandwiched between fluffy homemade bao buns to Canberra tastebuds.
“We wanted to create a food adventure that showcased real Asian flavours,” explains Angel. “Our baos are handmade and are very soft and fluffy following the traditional Chinese bakery-style.”
Angel and Paul both fell in love with this traditional style during their Shanghai upbringings and attest that Super Bao’s bao are “the only authentic hand-made baos available in Canberra.”
But if you think a bao restaurant would be limited when it comes to offerings—think again.
Joining the mouthwatering traditional bao on their menu are dishes like Korean fried chicken wings, lobster spring roll and popcorn chicken, as well as an epic soft shell crab bao-gur. Noms.
Vegetarians can tuck into a South Asia Mushroom burger with a juicy panko-crumbed mushroom patty dressed with Asian slaw and Tom Yum mayonnaise.
“We wanted to showcase multiple flavours within one dish, and the bao was the perfect format we could showcase traditional flavours of Asia in a modern Australian way,” says Angel.
As for how Super Bao will operate in Verity Lane Market’s streamlined kitchen setups, Angel explains that they’ll be simplifying their processes without sacrificing quality.
“Verity Lane will be the express version of our Dickson location. However, whilst it will be express it will not compromise on quality, it is a premium location that will have premium dishes.”
There’s also flexibility when it comes to orders, with a lunch-time set menu or the option to share multiple bao with friends.
Super Bao will be joining the likes of Ramen Daddy, Project Enoki and Pizza Artigiana as well as Verity Lane Market’s own bar.
“Verity Lane Market is a unique concept not just in the hospitality scene but in Canberra and we are very excited to join the team,” says Angel.
