The perfect combination of glam and gruesome: say hello to the new Canberra podcast

Put your hand up if your ideal Friday night is best spent in a bubble bath listening to a true-crime podcast, a glass of wine in one hand, scrolling through beauty reviews with the other?
As more and more women have an appetite for true crime and beauty podcasts continue to wow us with trends and tricks, there’s never been the perfect combination of the glam and grim aspects of the two genres. Until now.
It might seem like an unusual mix, but for Canberra content creator Laura Tough (of @life.of.laura) and model/actress Courtney Martin (@courtneyanne.martin), it’s the perfect amalgamation of their favorite things.

Bringing together Laura’s extensive knowledge of beauty and skincare products and Courtney’s love of true crime (which inspired her to study Criminology and Criminal Justice before she changed career trajectories) Beauty and Crime with a Dash of Wine is guaranteed to be your newest podcast obsession.
Meeting on Instagram and becoming lifelong friends, the duo decided to take a leap of faith and create The Beauty and Crime with a Dash of Wine podcast after looking for a creative project to work on together.
“This just seemed like the perfect fit,” they explain. “Both of us are podcast lovers and we listen to a plethora of podcasts on true crime and beauty, but none of them brought our two loves together.”
“They’re an interesting mix but there are so many people out there who love both deeply. We wanted to bring them together because who doesn’t love discussing their favourite beauty bits and then getting deep into a true-crime story? Plus, a little bit of wine always makes things more exciting!”

With the first episode due to hit airwaves soon, Laura and Courtney say listeners can expect exactly what they promise—beauty and crime with a dash of wine—all of which has all been thoroughly researched (and tested) by the pair.
“We’ll be diving into fascinating true crime cases, breaking down the details, going through the evidence and dissecting the witness, police, family, and loved one’s statements so we can see how the police found their perpetrator(s) or where they are up to with the case if it’s unsolved,” they say.
“Alongside this, we will be exploring some of our favourite beauty bits, breaking down the top trends, confusing skincare ingredients, and much more. All while enjoying, and obviously reviewing, a glass of wine!”
Through their podcast, the duo hopes to connect people who love glam and gruesome facts as much as they do and with the best bits of our usual go-to podcasts found in one place (and delivered by two of Canberra’s very own creatives), Friday nights are looking a whole lot better.
