Did someone say a free Pilates class…with dogs?

It’s a social world out there—especially with smartphone apps available at the touch of a button.
We have apps for ride-sharing, car-sharing, apartment-sharing and meeting new romantic partners, friends and those who fall somewhere in between.
But when it comes to socialising with your dog in tow or trying to find your pooch some furry mates—what’s a gal to do?
You could hang around dog parks for hours on end but…we all have better things to do.
This is the issue PatchPets founder Josh Fritz faced when he first moved to Brisbane—and started visiting local dog parks with adorable sidekick Quincy.
“Like most dog owners, I loved heading to our local dog park so Quincy could burn off energy, but I found it quite lonely being in a new city and not knowing anyone there,” says Josh.
“I thought—there has got to be some resource where I can arrange park play dates to ensure Quincy (and myself) could connect with other dog parents and doggos. This is when the idea for PatchPets came to life, call it a light bulb moment if you will. I then conducted extensive research and saw that a resource like PatchPets geared towards connecting dogs and dog owners was a niche in the market. From there I got to work, and PatchPets was born!”
So what is PatchPets?

Josh and Quincy.
“PatchPets is the free social dog app connecting dogs and dog owners around the world in one swift click,” says Josh. “When you sign up, you start by creating a profile for your furry friend and from there you’re free to arrange pooch playdates, check out the virtual park noticeboards, exchange advice and find dog-friendly services and events no matter where you are.”
Sound like the perfect match for you and your fur baby? Well, it just gets better.
DID SOMEONE SAY FREE PILATES…WITH DOGS?

To celebrate the official launch of PatchPets, Josh and his crew will be hosting free Pups & Pilates classes in every state—and they’re coming to Canberra this Thursday 21 November for a session at the leafy Yarralumla Gallery and Oaks Brasserie.
“Locals can expect a free 45-minute Pups & Pilates session from 10 am,” says Josh. “The class has been specifically developed for dog owners and their furry friends and they can book online on Eventbrite.”
“PatchPets’ Pups & Pilates national tour harness the app’s mission of breaking social norms and encouraging dog inclusion and socialisation, which is imperative in dog development, adaptability and wellbeing.”
WHAT DO I BRING? DO YOU HAVE TO BRING A DOG TO ATTEND?
Josh explains that Pilates mats and goodie bags are provided—all you need is a dog!
“No dramas if your pooch isn’t up for it though,” he adds. “Come on down as there’ll be plenty of dogs running about!”
