Canberra Fashion Food & Wine Market: a new market for a new season
Posted on
Spring is just around the corner—a fabulous season to head to a fabulous market.
This Saturday 31 August, the Canberra Fashion Food & Wine Market will be held for the second time in its new home, Thoroughbred Park, and the market continues to expand with more food and wine offerings, as well as the fashion it’s so famous for.
This is a great chance for stallholders to make cool cash selling fashion, food and wine. It’s also a great chance for marketgoers to enjoy a social day out, browsing through stalls featuring the full spectrum of new and pre-loved fashion, as well as artisan food products and boutique wines. Hot food vendors are on-site and there’s great coffee too.
You can enjoy a glass of wine, including from Quarry Hill Wines, which will be promoting its new Grenache Rosé, a beautiful, bright drop, and its Natural Sparkling, perfect for warmer weather.
Also to quench your thirst is Just Juicin’, which specialises in freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. Enjoy it on its own or with a splash of lemon and/or ginger, with fresh fruit blends also available.

Peggy’s Pantry will be on hand with an extensive range of preserves—tradition and new, all homemade and created with oodles of love. Specialty food products by Black Horse Fine Foods include small-batch jams, marmalades, chutneys, sauces and more—no artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives.
If you have a sweet tooth, you won’t want to pass by Cookie Joy to the World, with its range of handmade dry cookie mixes layered in jars for you to cook at home.

The Canberra Fashion Food and Wine Market has fashion galore, encompassing every style, new and pre-loved. Part of the joy is the discovery. You’ll find special, one-of-a-kind polymer clay jewellery by Bukiyou Designs (owner Sasha Green is venturing into t-shirt and tote bags too) and you’ll also uncover gorgeous hair accessories, clothing and accessories, including vintage pieces, from Canberra fashion girl Splendour and Style.

The expanded market has around 1,500 sqm of shopping so no matter what your style—including retro and vintage—the market has you covered.
Amazing designer labels regularly pop up like Gucci, Kate Spade, Coach, Mimco, Jimmy Choo, Saba, Sass and Bide, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Carla Zampatti, Wittner and Witchery. Think clothing, shoes, boots, bags, sunnies, jewellery, accessories and special pieces.
Organiser Cathie Wall, who also runs the 360 Fashion Market in Kingston, says prices inevitably vary with great buys for as low as $5 up to discounted designer pieces.
“We’ve seen marketgoers walk out with great buys, thrilled they’ve found something super special,” says Cathie, adding that the market is important to the circular economy of the capital.

“The markets are also a chance for stallholders to make some cool cash selling items they no longer love or use,” she says. “It’s so much better than ditching goods into landfill and it’s not expensive to purchase a stall.”
Canberra Fashion Food & Wine Market has free entry, free parking (and plenty of it) and is held indoors so guests are protected from the weather.
There are ATMs on-site and it’s only minutes from the city (and don’t forget you can take Canberra’s new tram there!).
