Canberra is getting an axe throwing venue

Yes, you read that correctly. An axe throwing venue is soon to open in Canberra.
A proud tradition for many European nations, axe throwing is set to make the leap from niche sport to, well, better-known niche sport when Axxe opens in Canberra this December.
Owners Chris Krajacic and Jesse Mount are passionate about bringing a wider variety of entertainment to Canberra and Axxe will surely provide that in spades, with the pair hoping the venue will be perfect for group outings, corporate days, special occasions and more.
“We feel that Canberra has a reputation of missing out on cool things and we want to try and fix that,” explain Chris and Jessie. “Urban Axe Throwing has been taking the world by storm, with many dedicated locations popping up all over the US and Canada. Urban Axe Throwing is a fun activity where you will get the unique experience of throwing solid steel axes at wooden targets and playing fun axe throwing games.”
“All sessions run for approximately two hours and begin with an axe-throwing lesson with one of our friendly staff who will teach you all you need to know to get you started with axe throwing. You’ll get a practice throw session and then jump into a tournament to battle it out with your friends to see who is the ultimate axe throwing champion. Time permitting we’ll play some axe throwing minigames.”

If you’re confused as to how axe throwing could possibly be ‘a thing’, you may be surprised to learn that it’s a widely-loved sport worldwide, with Axxe proud to be the first Australian venue to be affiliated with the World Axe Throwing League (WATL).
But even if you’re not a competitive axer (axee?) you can still blow off some steam or even bury the hatchet (sorry) with a friend or loved one in one of Axxe’s specially designed ‘lanes’. And you thought ten-pin bowling was fun.
To celebrate their opening, Axxe will be throwing a special Axxe Party, with two hours of “axe throwing fun” as well as food and music with more details to come soon via their Facebook page.
And for those wondering, axe throwing venues have the strictest of safety regulations.
While Axxe’s location is still under wraps, we can tell you that it’s in Fyshwick. Keep an eye on their website and Facebook page for more details closer to the opening.
