Celebrating exceptional women

Nominations are now being called for the 2019 ACT Women’s Awards.
The awards honour women who have made an outstanding contribution to the lives of other women and girls in the ACT.
The ACT Women’s Awards are a way of saying thank you for the excellent work women do across Canberra. The awards provide an opportunity to honour and acknowledge those Canberra women who are going beyond the norm, doing extraordinary things, with often minimal acknowledgement, to make things better for others in our community.
The three categories for nominations are:
- ACT Woman of the Year – all nominees are automatically considered in this category.
- ACT Senior Woman of the Year – nominees 60 years and over at 8 March 2019.
- ACT Young Woman of the Year – nominees 16 – 25 years at 8 March 2019.
Winners and runners-up will be announced as part of International Women’s Day celebrations in March 2019. Winners will be automatically included in the ACT Women’s Honour Roll and will have the option of being entered for consideration for the Australian of the Year Awards.
Previous recipients have made a difference to so many lives. Amongst other things, 2018 Woman of the Year Ashleigh Streeter-Jones is part of Jasiri Australia which is a social enterprise, specialising in inspirational products, grassroots programs and self-defence with 2,400 women nationally involved.
The 2018 Senior Woman of the Year, Cathi Moore contributes to leadership positions in key community service organisations and government boards amongst other achievements, the 2018 Young Woman of the Year Caitlin Figueiredo is an international champion for gender equality as an Ambassador for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and HerCanberra’s CEO Amanda Whitley was awarded the title of Woman of the Year in 2015.
