Floating cinema comes to Canberra this spring
Posted on
From drive-in cinemas to physically-distanced parties, people are getting creative in the name of COVID-safe fun.
But did you ever think you’d see a boat cinema?
That’s right—this October, the Floating Boat Cinema will come to Canberra for one week only.
Made up of a flotilla of 12-24 ‘mini boats’, which hold up to eight people per boat, Canberrans can book out boats with friends and family, ensuring a physically-distanced, COVID-safe viewing experience.
Films will range from classics to new releases, and there will be a candy bar available on-site for those essential movie snacks, with free popcorn for all attendees. However, there’s no confirmation yet as to which of Canberra’s lakes it will take place on.
At the moment, all we know is that it’s happening from 28 October and that you can pre-register to find out more here.
