Five great pop-up weekend tipples…

Posted on

The weather is warming up (at least for a couple of days, before we plunge into winter again on Monday), so the time is ripe to get out and enjoy all the opportunities for a drink al fresco. We’ve already got you sorted with Canberra’s best cocktail bars (and a few – well, eleven – more) but there are also some more ‘transient’ experiences on offer around town.

Here are five great pop-up tipples happening this weekend, and they start tonight!

FRIDAY

limestone-sliderAirWaves at Canberra Airport

From tonight until Friday 13 December, Canberra Airport will be hosting AirWaves; a six-week series of live music showcasing local talent alongside locally sourced food, wine and beer.

Held every Friday from 4-7pm in the departures lounge at the airport terminal, next to Limestone Cafe and Bar, each week will feature a different local artist and a different food, wine and beer special from Limestone.

Week one kicks off today, with a collaboration between Mr Michael and SpeakerLove who bring together a violin and DJ to create a fusion of improvisation and beats, blurring genres and convention. Limestone are offering $6.50 Pepperjack Ales and 20% off all food.

Talent for the coming weeks include such artists as Dollface, Davesway and Amber Nichols with more to be announced soon.

nfsaFreaky Friday at NFSA’s special Pop Up Bar!

As part of the Canberra International Film Festival’s Freaky Friday triple bill, Farmer’s Daughter will set up a special Pop Up Bar at the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) tonight.

The Bar will be open from 5:15pm to 10pm with a range of drinks and snacks available in the NFSA foyer. Invite your friends, grab a drink and head outside into the beautiful courtyard to enjoy a balmy Spring evening.

Mount Majura Charcuterie and Wine Bar

Every Friday evening from 5pm to 9pm during November, Mount Majura Vineyard will be opening up the cellar door and turning it into a charcuterie and wine bar. The charcuterie is provided by the talented culinary team at Pod Food in Pialligo.

Delicious selections of cold and smoked meats, terrines, pates and more matched with our wine by the glass, flight or bottle is a great way to enjoy a Friday evening. Bookings recommended on 6262 3070.
