Celebrate Galentine’s Day with HerCanberra, gin and The Breaker Upperers

Come and celebrate female friendship at the gorgeous National Film and Sound Archive on 13 February with gin cocktails, a candy buffet and a screening of The Breaker Upperers.
Galentine’s Day is nearly upon us, Canberra and we’re getting excited.
Confused? Think someone has made a spelling error? Nope—Galentine’s Day is its very own celebration (13 February), a day where friendship takes pride of place.
Always wanted to celebrate your female friends for the goddesses they are? Need an excuse to get the gang together for a much-needed girls night? Galentine’s is that day—and, this year, we’re taking things up a notch.
Off the back of our very successful The Dressmaker Click and Connect friend-making event at the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA), we’re heading back into this gorgeous art deco building on Thursday 13 February for a summery evening of gin cocktails, girlfriends, candy and some hilarious Kiwis—all for $25.
Upon arrival, you’ll be handed a goodie bag and a special Galentine’s cocktail made with our much-loved HerCanberra x The Canberra Distillery French Earl Grey Gin which you can take into the beautiful courtyard to find a place to sit and catch up with your crew.
Make sure to stop by the bountiful candy buffet on your way past to stock up on some movie treats. Yes, that’s right. We said candy buffet.
After you’ve had a chance to debrief and relax, we’ll head into the NFSA’s luxe Arc cinema for a screening of The Breaker Upperers.
This hilarious female-led, written and directed New Zealand comedy is sure to have you rolling in the aisles as we follow the exploits of Jen and Mel, who run Auckland-based The Breaker Upperers—an agency for those who need a little help ending their relationships, with solutions involving kidnapping, fake pregnancies, arrest and hilarious break-up-o-grams. What could go wrong?
We couldn’t think of a better film to suit Galentine’s Day.
So, what do you say, Canberra? Your best girlfriends, gin cocktails, a candy buffet and a hilarious film, all for $25? Sounds like a date to me.
