Lights! Canberra! Action! 2015 winners announced

We introduced you to the impressive 22 year-old a couple of weeks ago, and now Canberra filmmaker Hew Sandison has performed a hat trick, winning the Lights! Canberra! Action! festival for the third year running.
His short drama, Turnback, took out three of the 15 award categories including Best Film, Best Director and Best Editing.
One Long Day – Lights…Canberra…Inaction also received three awards including Best Performance, Best Screenplay and Best Original Music.
The annual short film competition received 30 high quality entries. Each local filmmaker was given just 10 days to produce a seven-minute film to suit the theme of Swings and Roundabouts.
Events ACT spokeswoman Dianne Ireland said Lights! Canberra! Action! had grown into a popular event for both film makers and cinema lovers.
“Year after year the event attracts some of the best filmmakers from around the region who continue to produce great range of Canberra-centric short films that are a joy to watch,” she said.
The following 15 awards were presented to Lights! Canberra! Action! entrants this evening:

Best Sound Design – Crumbs by Douglas Warouw
Best Visual Effects/Animation – Echoes by Christian Doran & Adam Lynch
Best Art Direction – Game of Foams by Pat Gallagher & The Hundred Swords
Best Editing – Turnback by Hew Sandison
Best Cinematography – Echoes by Christian Doran & Adam Lynch
Best Screenplay – One Long Day – Lights…Canberra…Inaction by Brendon Houlahan
Best Director – Turnback by Hew Sandison
Most Memorable Performance – Bulldust by Chris Schlegel
Best Performance – One Long Day – Lights…Canberra…Inaction by Brendon Houlahan
Best Use of an Item – Dear Jasmine Julia Faragher
Best Use of Theme – Lost for Words by Peter Fock
Best Under 18s Film –This Place Ain’t Home by Evie Friedrich
Best Student Film – Dear Jasmine by Julia Faragher
Best Film – Turnback by Hew Sandison.
