Bentspoke to hold a fundraising night for Tathra
Posted on
The country was horrified when bushfires tore through the seaside town of Tathra just over a week ago – none more so than the thousands of Canberrans for whom Tathra is a summer destination of choice.
Now, one Canberra business is encouraging Canberrans to raise a glass to the strength of the Tathra community and in doing so, support the relief efforts. Braddon’s BentSpoke Brewing Co. will hold a charity event this Thursday night to raise funds for the Bega Valley Shire Council Mayoral Appeal Fund.
“Canberrans remember only too well the devastation when bushfires burn down homes,” says BentSpoke Co-owner and Head Brewer Richard Watkin. “At BentSpoke, we’ll be donating $2 from every large glass of beer or cider and $1 from every small glass purchased between 4 and 7 pm this Thursday 29 March.

“We’ll also have a bucket on the bar so anyone who wants to donate cash can chip in there as well.”
Richard has high hopes the night will raise a chunk of change for those doing it tough in the wake of the blaze.
“We expect we’ll be able to raise a few thousand dollars for the people of Tathra,” he says.
So what are you waiting for? The event kicks off at 4 pm and runs until 7 pm. The perfect way to start your Easter long weekend.
