To market to market to buy…truffle gin?

Yes, that’s right. Truffles aren’t just reserved for pastas, eggs and cheese anymore.

This winter, Canberra region truffles have been taken to the next level in new, intriguing and downright fascinating ways.

While we’ve already covered where you can eat, drink, hunt and learn to cook truffles this season, we wanted to shine a light on the delicious array of locally made truffle products that you can pick up during the Canberra Region Truffle Festival.

DRINK ME

Macenmist Black Truffles has collaborated with Catcher and Co. Distillery from Cooma to create The Mist, a limited edition Black Truffle Gin. Yes, that’s right. A truffle gin.

To celebrate the collaboration, a launch will be held at Macenmist this Sunday 6 August from 2.30pm. The launch, which is open to the public, will include tastings and nibbles to celebrate and visitors will be able to purchase the gin. Any bottles remaining will be released for sale via the Catcher and Co. website. Find more information here.

EAT ME

Poachers Pantry has added Smoked Truffle Ham and Smoked Truffle Chicken to their gourmet smoked meats range. The meats are cured, and rolled with truffles, and then smoked with the truffle adding a beautiful earthiness. You can find Poachers Pantry products at their Farm Shop in Hall. SCOOP ME

If you’re craving something a bit sweeter, Foodish at the Belconnen Markets have created, wait for it, a Black Truffle ice-cream. Made with fresh truffles from the Canberra region, this ice-cream both surprises and delights and comes in a tub with enough to feed eight – perfect for a truffle-y surprise at the end of a dinner party!

Then, of course, you have the classic range of truffle infused products, which are a pantry must-have for any self-respecting Canberra chef.
