Six of our favourite Canberra burgers
Posted on
Okay. We know that this is a sensitive issue.
Because it doesn’t matter whether you like your burgers stacked, small, with chicken, beef, mushroom or with no buns, everyone has a favourite.
So we did a straw poll (read: asked our office) for some Canberran highlights. If your fave isn’t here, don’t despair—just let us know in the comments! Who knows, it could make it into the next instalment…
Crispy Skin Pork Belly Burger, District Beef Burger and Grilled Peri Peri Chicken Burger, The District

Aside from our northside-dwelling office pals swearing by this Gungahlin eatery for its atmosphere and hearty meals, all three of The District’s burgers just scooped the Best Burger Award at the 2018 Australian Hospitality Association Awards. So don’t take our word for it, trust the experts.

PAPA MCCHEESY, LITTLE THEO’S

With two handmade beef patties, two types of cheese, pickles, caramelised onion, American mustard and, according to the website, “unbridled ecstasy”, if a Papa McCheesy doesn’t tempt you, I don’t know what will.

DIRTY BIRD, GREASE MONKEY

Finger-lickin’ good and very, very saucy, the Dirty Bird chicken burger is something of a cult favourite. Pair it with one of Grease Monkey’s signature shakes for a seriously nostalgic meal.

SINGLE CHEESE, BRODBURGER

Yes, we know. It’s not ‘the Brodburger’, which is an obvious favourite for so many Canberrans. BUT if you’re after something a little smaller, with that tangy sauce as well as a punch of mustard, the Single Cheese is perfect.

A TRUFFLE BURGER, THE FUN GUYS

A limited-edition pop-up out at The Truffle Farm, The Fun Guys are serving up gourmet burgers with a truffle-y twist. Don’t wait though—it’s only for the truffle season, which ends in late August.

CHEESEBURGER, KETTLE AND TIN

Hefty and generous, this burger comes with all the trimmings—bacon, two types of sauce and a whole lot of cheese. The fact that it’s on Kettle and Tin’s all-day menu is just a bonus.
