Taking a Capitol feast to the hills

QT’s renowned restaurant, Capitol Bar & Grill is a lover of local produce. And at a time when local producers are doing it tough, the restaurant is going bush.
As part of the Good Food week line-up, Capitol Bar and Grill is placing its love of Canberra’s wines right in the centre of the capital’s cool climate wine region on Saturday 21 March for a one-night-only culinary event.
Setting up a long table at Canberra’s family-owned Four Winds Vineyard, QT’s team has created a menu that will celebrate the paddock-to-plate mentality.
And with Four Winds opening up its award-winning cellar for the evening, it promises to be a night that diners won’t forget.

Within the hills of Murrumbateman, executive chef Josh Smith-Thirkell will serve a feast which will feature sustainable produce, sourced both from local markets and the hotel’s rooftop garden and beehive.
The evening’s dishes will be designed for maximum impact on the long table—delicious share platters which feature the restaurant’s signature style feasting.
Diners can expect exquisite seafood, Capitol’s famous premium cuts grilled on wood fire, fresh sides and of course, unforgettable Italian desserts—all prepared in the vineyard’s enchanting surroundings.

According to Josh, “Sourcing local produce and developing close relationships with our producers and winemakers is really important to us. Our local area has so much to offer and we have great opportunities to showcase sensational food and wine pairings in the region’s beautiful landscape”.

Award-winning Four Wind’s vigneron Sarah Collingwood said “We usually have a very simple menu so it is exciting to team up with the chefs from QT to create something exciting and delicious. This is a great chance for people to sample some of the local produce and see what skilled chefs produce from the oven and grill. As Four Winds is a small, boutique vineyard, events like this give people the chance to enjoy the vineyard for a relaxed and fun evening.”

The long table dinner will be located nearby the vineyard’s cellar door on Patemans Lane in Murrumbateman, an easy 30-minute drive from the Canberra city centre. Limited exclusively to 50 guests, tickets to this event are available online.
