A day of wine and cheese. Need we say more?

A spring must-do for any self-respecting Canberra foodie, Taste of Two Regions is essentially a wine country getaway, without the drive.
A collaboration between two of Australia’s most delicious regions, King Valley and Rutherglen, Taste of Two Regions 2018 on Sunday 12 August will see Canberrans flock to the gardens of Pialligo Estate for a day filled with wine, cheese, mead, olives and more wine. Do we have your attention?

Laid out like an enormous, decadent market in Pialligo Estate’s Glasshouse, guests will be encouraged to stroll around during the three-hour tasting session with their very own Spiegelau tasting glass, which is included in their ticket.

With more than 15 wineries and boutique producers to sample, it’s the perfect day out with friends or a loved one. Having previously attended Taste of Two Regions I can attest to the vibrancy of the tasting sessions, as many vineyards and producers’ stalls are manned by the makers themselves, providing ample opportunity to learn about the history of whatever drop you’re sampling.

Producers appearing include Stanton & Killeen, Brown Brothers, Dal Zotto, Cofield Wines, All Saints Estate, Jones Vineyard & Winery, Campbells, Pizzini Wines, Milawa Cheese Co, Walkabout Apiaries, Whitehead’s Mead, Boosey Creek Cheese and Wicked Virgin Olives. As well as tasting, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase from each stall.
Outside, there will be plenty of seating in the sun, so you can enjoy the live entertainment and perhaps a glass of whatever you chose to purchase from inside. And if you’re after some lunch, you can even order a hamper from Pialligo Estate filled with picnic delicacies like Pialligo smoked chicken, olives, house-made pickles, cheese and mineral water.

Want to dive a little deeper? This year, in addition to the tasting session, Taste of Two Regions will offer nine masterclasses across the day. Within these sessions, you’ll have the chance to learn from passionate Rutherglen and King Valley makers in short and sweet 20-minute sessions like Beyond the Cellar Door with Brown Brothers, a Portuguese Varieties Masterclass with Stanton and Killeen and Pioneers of Proseco with Dal Zotto Wines.

Masterclasses are free of charge for Taste of Two Regions ticket holders, however, registration is required in advance—get in quick as they will book out!
