MANAGING XMAS MONEY
Posted on
It’s only three more spending weeks to Christmas and as we enter the peak buying season, local writer and financial planner, Lynette Murray from Acton Advice is looking for Canberra mums and dads to share their tips on keeping the financial peace this Christmas.
Ms Murray said that so far her research has shown that good communication and an understanding and acceptance of different money personalities were two key ingredients to family harmony during the holiday season.
“It’s at this time of the year that differences in spending and saving really come to the fore,” said Ms Murray.
“One partner has a strict budget, spends ages researching bargains and probably has all their Christmas shopping done during the July stocktake sales.
“The other partner has a more ‘live in the moment’ approach, spoiling those near and dear and willing to pay a bit extra for the perfect gift.
“It has all the ingredients of a ‘perfect storm’ – two different money personalities, the pressure of Christmas and a slower economy!” said Ms Murray.
If you are one of those people who have worked out how to get through the holiday season harmoniously, balancing the needs of different spending and saving patterns, then you are invited to share your tips at a free Christmas morning tea hosted by Ms Murray and Acton Advice at the Hotel Realm on 8 December from 9.00 to 10.30 am.
The best tips will be included in Ms Murray’s new book on understanding your money personality.
RSVP is essential by Wednesday 7 December. Visit www.actonadvice.com.au or email info@actonadvice.com.au for more information.
