Five fun DIY options for your wedding

Posted on

Planning a wedding day is a massive process that inevitably requires assistance; however there are a few things that you can do on your own to add your individual style while also saving a few dollars!

Tulle chair-back

If there was ever a perfect opportunity to go crazy with tulle, it’s a wedding. White tulle is the cream of the fabric crop for wedding decorations, and can be used in a number of different ways. Think backdrops for the head table, weaving it over an arbor, or using it to decorate the ceiling of your reception venue. After scrolling through the countless uses of tulle on Pinterest, we stumbled upon our favourite: a tulle chair-back. The tulle bow creates an elegant aesthetic, which can be completed with a small bouquet of handpicked flowers.

Floral centrepieces

If you want to create your own floral arrangements but don’t have enough vases, floral foam holders can be purchased fairly inexpensively. The added benefit of using them is that you can arrange the flowers a few days in advance, without them dying when it counts!

If you’re more interested in foliage than flowers, opt for something like these candles wrapped in foliage. The aesthetic created is modern, relaxed, and summery.

If you still want flowers but prefer ones that don’t require watering, lavender is a pretty foolproof option…

Lantern columns

If you want to add some extra ambience to your night-time outdoor setting, lanterns are a great way to go. They’re an inexpensive lighting option, and can be arranged in a number of different ways. Stacking the lanterns on a dowel to form a column will create a deceptively sophisticated look – no one needs to know they usually cost less than $10 each!

Hanging sunflower pomanders

Now this is a cool one – no one will be able to tell that these decorations are made up merely of fake flowers stuck in a Styrofoam sphere. The option to use real flowers is also there, however fake flowers may be more user-friendly and will provide greater peace of mind for their inability to deteriorate.

Floral Balloons

While this DIY option is more complicated than the others, it creates a gorgeous and rewarding end product. The silk flowers can be attached to the balloon string using a glue gun. The specific steps to creating this can be found here.
