Real wedding: Anna and Tom
Posted on
Rain and lightening couldn’t ruin Anna and Tom’s fun and relaxed, yet incredibly stylish, wedding day at Wamboin. Anna takes us through the gorgeous day.
Getting ready
the dress
My mum spotted my wedding dress (and hairpiece) at ‘The way we wear vintage’ fair at Albert Hall. It’s an original 1950s dress, sold by Couture Vintage. I loved the colour of the dress, the gorgeous big skirt and the fact that it was so different to the more traditional wedding dresses I had tried on.
the ceremony
On the day it rained heavily and almost non stop, except for 15 minutes at our planned ceremony time. It meant we were able to have the ceremony outdoors in the beautiful garden – such amazing luck!

We had our wedding at Tom’s mum’s home in Wamboin. We wanted to have a relaxed, backyard vibe to our wedding and be able to jump straight from the ceremony into the celebrations.
the reception
The heavy rain (and lightning) also created a ‘we’re all in this together’ feel inside the marquee, which was really awesome.
We had heartfelt (and hilarious) speeches from our parents and ended the night breaking it down on the dance floor to the Spotify playlist I had spent ages putting together.
People commented on how funny and joyful our ceremony was. We wrote our own vows and our fabulous celebrant, Judy Aulich, brought the whole ceremony to life.
