Real Weddings: Jenna and Liam
Posted on
Jenna and Liam’s wedding at Lake Crackenback incorporated romantic country styling against a stunning backdrop of mountains and chalets. We asked the lovely bride to take us through the big day.
Getting ready
My bridal party, mum and mother-in-law got ready in a beautiful chalet at 13 Bullocks Drive, Lake Crackenback. The stunning chalet was conveniently located a short distance from our ceremony location, giving us maximum time for getting ready and photographs. It was one of the most luxurious chalets on the grounds with stunning decor, a perfect view of the mountain range and plenty of room for the makeup artist and hairdresser to set up!
The dress
I knew my dress was the one for me the moment I tried it on. It was exactly what I was looking for in a wedding dress: timeless, romantic and elegant. The Karen Willis Holmes team were fantastic. I had always loved her dresses, but the texture and feel of the twill fabric was what sealed the deal. It was so comfortable and easy to move in.
The venue
Lake Crackenback was the perfect wedding venue because it had everything we needed, all in the one location – including multiple ceremony locations to choose from and a hatted restaurant. Guests could walk from the ceremony to reception and also to their accommodation to freshen up if needed. The resort takes care of most of the finer details, making wedding planning a breeze.
For us, we were drawn to the landscape and the beautiful scenery. The resort, on the doorstep to the Kosciusko National Park, was the perfect back drop for our photography.
We enjoyed having all our family and friends stay at the resort with us, it made our wedding last the entire weekend not just a day. Because of this we had the added bonus of the precious memories of the days before and after the wedding. My husband, his groomsmen and close friends also walked Mount Kosciuszko the day before our wedding and some of our guests enjoyed activities around the resort the day before like bushwalking, golf and canoeing.
The ceremony
Our ceremony and reception were all held within the resort. The ceremony took place at the Lake View Park, with the amazing back drop of the lake and beautiful mountains. It provided the perfect set up for our guests to enjoy some post-ceremony drinks and games.
The reception
Our reception took place at Cuisine Restaurant, located on the opposite side of the lake, and a short walk from the ceremony location. The restaurant overlooks the lake and has floor to ceiling windows to ensure everyone gets to enjoy the picturesque view. The food was delicious and something all our guests complimented!
Our table decorations were floral arrangements attached to birch logs, tea light votives, deer antlers and candles. All were keeping with the romantic country setting. Our first dance was so much fun and after the band prompted us into a ‘Dirty Dancing’ lift (pity Liam had never seen the movie.) Our guests then danced the night away before sending us off with a sparkling goodbye.
