Real wedding: Kate and Mike
Posted on
The picturesque Four Winds Vineyard at Murrumbateman set the scene for Kate and Mike’s tranquil wedding day with close family and friends. Kate takes us through the day…
Getting Ready
I got ready at my sister’s house with my bridesmaid and my mum; while Mike got ready at our house with his best man, father and some brothers.
The dress
I really wanted my dress to have an A-Line design with cap sleeves, a lace bodice and back that wasn’t too heavy or had a big skirt or train, and the MIA dress from Made With Love Bridal ticked all these boxes. MIA was the only dress that I tried on, and I am still in love with it now. The ladies at Made With Love Bridal are amazing and so helpful and I would definitely recommend them to everyone.
The ceremony
We were really wanting to have a relaxed and casual wedding, and we really wanted to be able to have the ceremony and reception at the same place. I also wanted to have a venue that was quiet and a little secluded so that everyone could make the most of the day.

My favorite part of the day was our first walk through the vines after we were married. It was a great moment to check in with each other and just spend a few minutes together before hitting the reception.
The reception
Four Winds Vineyard was the perfect choice, as there was a beautiful Eucalyptus grove where our reception was held and a fantastic cellar door and hay shed where we had the reception.
The menu was a variety of wood fired pizzas and cold cut platters prepared on site by Four Winds Vineyard, complemented by an open bar of the fantastic range of Four Winds wines, with a special sparkling wine flown in from the vineyard where Mike proposed.
The day was fun and relaxed and casual. Our tables were styled with hessian and lace table runners made by mum, lavender from our garden, and candles. As the vineyards is a beautiful place in itself, we kept our styling to a minimum to highlight the natural beauty of the vineyard.
The best advice I received before the wedding day was to make sure that we checked in with each other throughout the day, away from everyone else- it is such a hectic, busy day, but those few moments together during the ceremony and reception really made it that more special.
