Amanda is 45-years-old and is our CEO and Founder. She explains why she was interested in testing truSculpt® 3D with Clear Complexions.

“I’ve always struggled with my weight, but excess fat had always stuck mainly to my thigh and butt area. But since hitting early Menopause nearly a year ago that fat has started to stubbornly distribute itself around my stomach area.

“I make sure I’m active every day and eat well, but I’m up for trying anything non-surgical that might also help me lose some centimetres around my abdomen.

“Having grown up believing that the only way to shed unwanted fat was to exercise and ensure a calorie deficit, I was keen to find out if these new treatments can have results.”

What is truSculpt® 3D?

truSculpt® 3D uses radio frequency technology to target, heat and destroy fat cells, reducing body fat and reshaping problem areas to deliver a more firm and contoured shape.

It can be used to treat areas of unwanted fat, including: abdomen, flanks (love handles), upper back, arms, thighs, double chin and ankles.

It’s important to note that truSculpt® 3D can only be used on areas where fat is present and isn’t suited for areas that have little or no fat—such as the breast and chest area, or over reproductive organs.

What actually happens during a treatment?

Before the treatment begins, you’ll be weighed and measured by one of Clear Complexions’ senior nurses—you’ll also have skinfold measurements taken of the area you’re about to have treated, and photographs taken from multiple angles. All this documenting is so that you can clearly see the effect of the treatment and no one other than your nurse and you have to see them!

truSculpt® 3D is administered via a handheld device that your nurse gently glides over the treatment area.  It delivers radiofrequency energy which heats and damages fat cells, which the body then naturally eliminates over the course of approximately 6 to 12 weeks.

“The treatment feels similar to a hot stone massage,” says Amanda.

“The treatment area gradually gets hotter and hotter as the radio frequency energy penetrates deep below the skin’s surface. My stomach was divided into four quadrants, with 15 minutes spent on each section.

“It did get really quite intensely warm towards the end of each 15-minute section, which felt uncomfortable, but not painful.

“Basically, you just need to lie back and relax and have your tummy rubbed—there are worse ways to spend an hour!”

Is there any down time?

After the procedure, the treatment area will be warm and flushed for less than one hour.

“My abdomen was a little tender to the touch for a day, but not enough to really notice—and I was able to immediately return to normal activities and exercise, which was great news for my Zumba class!”

When can you expect see results?

According to Clear Complexions, your body will immediately begin to break down and flush out damaged fat cells following your truSculpt® 3D treatment. Results are visible as early as six weeks post-treatment, with optimal results seen at 12 weeks.

“It’s been about four weeks since my treatment and I’m not due to have my measurements taken until the 12-week mark, so I can’t give you numbers yet,” says Amanda. “But I can tell you that I have definitely noticed a reduction in the amount of fat I’m carrying around my midriff—the old ‘favourite jeans’ test—and I’m also the lightest I’ve been in two years!

“Now, obviously I can’t say whether this is because of truSculpt® 3D or my gym routine, but I can say that I’ve been working to lose weight for some time, and this is the first significant shift I’ve seen. I’ll be sure to report back with the end results in November.”

How many treatments do you need?

For maximum results, Clear Complexions recommends two treatments spaced 12 weeks apart.

Who is it truSculpt® 3D for?

Clear Complexions’ cosmetic nurses will determine whether you are a good candidate for truSculpt® 3D following an in-depth consultation with you on your goals and concerns. However, genera,lly truSculpt® 3D is suited to people of all skin types, who are healthy, with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30 but have problem areas of stubborn fat that they can’t shift. 

How much is it?

truSculpt™ 3D prices depends on the area you are having treated and ranges between $850 – $2,250
