It’s here: raize the roof charity house hits the market

Posted on

It’s taken 10 years, the generosity of more than 350 Canberra businesses, and the blood, sweat and tears of two Canberra siblings that made it all happen.

Now, Canberra’s raize the roof Charity House is finally finished and ready to hit the market.

Tomorrow, Saturday 15 September, the three-bedroom Bonner home in will open its doors to the public for five weeks of open homes before it goes to auction on 20 October.

In 2009, Canberra siblings Danielle and Lincoln Dal Cortivo set to work raising funds and building a charity house from donated materials and labour to raise money for seriously ill children.

Danielle Dal Cortivo explains that the aim of the project was to raise $1 million for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and SOS Children’s Villages Botswana a charity for orphaned children in Botswana.

“It has been an incredible journey and we are so thankful to the hundreds of Canberrans who have helped to make it happen,” says Danielle. “We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity of Canberra tradies and businesses to get this project to the point where we are now able to put the house on the market.”

The public will also be able to check out the work of five Canberra teams who were part of an online reality series called Decorate for a Difference to help style the home. These five teams were given just one day to style their zones using products donated by IKEA.

The challenge will be released as an online series in coming weeks and Canberrans will be able to watch the show and vote for their favourite zone via www.decorateforadifference.com, with every vote = one dollar going towards the charity.

“We’re asking the community to get behind their favourite team and get voting to help us raise as much money as possible. We’ve got a big goal to reach and while we think the house will sell for a great price, we need Canberra’s help to get us to the one million mark,” Ms Dal Cortivo said.

The house is located at 17 Clancy McKenna Crescent, Bonner and will be open each weekend on Saturdays and Sundays 10 am – 1 pm from 15 September until the auction on 20 October.
