Rosé all day with art, music and 17 types of rosé

Did you know that, in addition to deliciously sharp Riesling and velvety Shiraz, the Canberra wine region also produces seriously tasty rosé?
The perfect summer drink, rosé is certainly having a moment and it’s this tasty sip that will be celebrated in style at An Aussie Pink Summer Afternoon, on Sunday 8 December.
A partnership between The Food and Wine Marshall and Kambri’s aMBUSH Gallery, An Aussie Pink Summer Afternoon will be the pairing (sorry) of wine, food, music and art, with guests given the chance to taste 17 rosés from the Canberra region.
Canberra’s newest gallery, aMBUSH Gallery overlooks ANU’s Kambri precinct and during the event guests will have a chance to explore the current exhibition, Psychedelic Realism—a collection of works by iconic Australian artist Reg Mombassa.
Fran Marshall of the Food and Wine Marshall says aMBUSH is the perfect location for such an event.
“The idea came from a chat with the gallery owners who adore rosé and love the Canberra wine region, who were really surprised at just how much rosé we have throughout our cool climate,” she explains.
“We thought that the funky space that is the aMBUSH gallery, artworks and rosé were a match made in summer heaven.”

Fran says there will be the chance to chat with representatives from 15 wineries on the day as you sample their drops, as well as bountiful grazing platters to nibble on.
“We have 17 rosés being poured, with 15 of the wineries attending.”
Not a fan of rosé? Fran urges you to give it another go.
“Rosé is an incredibly versatile wine style. It can be made of any number of red grape varietal, in any number of winemaking styles. It is one of the best food wines simply because there is a rosé for every food option.”
“It’s perfect at any time of the year, curled up in front of the fire and a good movie, or in the park on a hot summer day, trying to stay cool. There are red wine drinker rosé and there are white wine drinker rosé.”
Tickets are $55 per person (or $65 at the door) and include four hours of wine tasting and grazing platters.
Guests can also access three hours of free parking below the Kambri Precinct, which Fran adds is always a plus when attending events in the city.
Afterwards, Fran encourages guests to head out into the warm summer evening and discover the diverse food vendors dotted throughout the Kambri Precinct for an early bite to eat before heading home.
